Why DIY Religion Doesn't Work

Wrong - Stupid - Self defeating!

According to a story by Jennifer Garro, these folks are:

1. Seeking "authenticity."

2. Wanting spiritual practices based upon their personal experiences and values.

3. Not wanting any imposed dogma or rituals.

They don't want anyone to tell them

what to believe

what is right and wrong

how to live or

what they should have faith in.

This is your basic immature, childish response to authority of any kind.

You can't tell me what to do!

Here are 4 reasons this practice is wrong, stupid, and self-defeating.

First, they seek out trendy and false practices.

"Holistic practices such as meditation, crystal healing, and astrology are gaining popularity. These practices offer a sense of control and self-awareness in a chaotic world."

Let's break this down. Using the word holistic means considering the entire person instead of just a part. It is often used in medicine to describe not only treating the symptom but the entire person.

But when it comes to the spiritual or the supernatural, it simply means grabbing hold of whatever is a hot trend at the moment.

Meditation is not necessarily bad - the Bible tells us to meditate on God's word, but typically meditation in this article means emptying your mind or focusing on good things you want to happen to you. This isn't spiritual or religious. It is just stupid.

Crystal healing and astrology are pop ideas that have been disproven repeatedly but are a regular tool of Satan who is behind all this.

Second, they find their guidance on TikTok.

"Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become hubs for New Age spirituality. Influencers share their spiritual journeys, rituals, and practices, creating a community of like-minded individuals."

Nothing says deep thought and clear teaching like TikTok and Instagram!!!

Third, their focus is often that of mental health - not truth.

"The emphasis on mental health and wellness is another factor driving the rise of New Age spirituality. Practices like mindfulness and meditation are known to reduce stress and improve mental well-being."

Considering that this generation is the most drugged out generation in history with almost 1 out of 5 women using antidepressants, there might be a relationship between not seeking truth and having bad mental health.

Fourth, they have no "real" community because the focus is on the individual rather than the truth.

"Despite its focus on individualism, New Age spirituality also fosters a sense of community. Online forums, spiritual retreats, and local meetups provide opportunities for connection and shared experiences. "

They focus on themselves. They have their "community" through online forums. This is not a community. And the self-focus and the lack of real relationships lead to more mental health issues.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since there is real truth in the world, we can never be saved or satisfied with do-it-yourself religions.

We have to seek the truth and that truth is found in Jesus Christ and the Bible.

Ultimately, everyone will stand before the judgement seat of God and if we do not have saving faith in Christ, our doom is sure. Place your faith in Christ today.
