How careful are you in your life?
Maybe it's because I grew up in a business my parents operated. Maybe it's because I'm obsessive. Maybe because I read too many passages in the Old Testament talking about clean and unclean animals.
I spend a lot of time in coffee shops. One of the things I notice is how often the details are ignored. I'm sitting in one right now.
I'm the first customer in this area and it was cleaned last night. And this is what I see.
These are food crumbs between the seat and the back.
This is the base of the table next to me.
As you can see, neither has been cleaned properly and this is not a one-off situation. This is just how it is on an everyday basis.
I'm not trying to shame this restaurant because I struggle with keeping things clean at my home. But this lack of attention does make me think.
One of the effects of following Christ is a real concern for details.
As you draw closer to Christ, you notice more and more how your life is not measuring up to what you confess.
When the big virus hit in 2020, church after church agreed with the government that they were not essential services.
Many Christians, including pastors, were terrified of getting sick.
It's like they never truly believed what the apostle Paul said when he wrote "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21.
