Some things are better than others

Dry bread or a feast? Which is better?

Superficially, we would always say it's better to have a feast. But the circumstances matter.

Proverbs 17:1 says, "Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife."

Real estate agents say the 3 most important things in selling the house are:

1. Location

2. Location

3. Location

"Yes, that house may be beautiful, and well-kept, and a great price, but ..."

When we choose what is best in life, we need to make sure we are looking deeper than the superficial.

I know many people who say they would love to win the lottery and receive hundreds of millions of dollars. All their problems would be gone.

But if you read the stories of people who won large amounts of money, you find that often their lives become worse.

I'm not saying that more money might not improve your life or that having a feast is a bad thing. I'm saying, we need to understand what are the most important things in life.

And the most important thing is life is knowing God, through faith in Christ.
